Thirty people took up Get Cycling’s challenge to cycle into work half the time over a three week period and organiser Louise Gold says she’s had some great messages from the new pedal power commuters.
“One wrote that he’d had a great journey cycling in the sunshine and just wanted to keep on cycling. Another said she’d really enjoyed cycling and when she got home was in a great mood and had loads of energy.”
The scheme winds up this week but those who are going to continue cycling into work are being offered a 10% discount on a new bike. They’ll be able to store it safely at the Quadrant because there will now be 20 bike stands instead of just 10.
Manager Jim Coleman, who has also been converted to commuting by bike, will be there with the best of them – but only on dry days. “Much as I’ve enjoyed cycling into work, I must admit that I’ve only done it on the good days. I’m definitely a fair weather cyclist!”
