Cooks come out on top
Sharon, along with fellow staff members from Magellan’s café, took on the Quadrant reception staff in a Shrove Tuesday needle match to see who was the most dexterous with the old frying pan as they raced up The Street cheered on by tenants.
But sad to say the outcome was disputed. Contestant Jim Coleman called for a steward’s inquiry after claiming to have pipped Sharon at the finishing line.
“I’m sure I came first,” he claimed. “If only we’d had state of the art camera technology on the finish line I’m sure my challenge would be verified. I wuz robbed!”
But the judges gave the first prize to Sharon who was the lucky recipient of a packet of pre-cooked microwavable pancakes!
Quadrant tenants were rather luckier – Magellan’s served up proper pancakes, freshly made, with toppings of strawberries, chocolate and ice cream.
